ERMA New Zealand has released its Evaluation and Review Report on the application for a reassessment of the pesticide 1080.
The Department of Conservation and the Animal Health Board have applied for a reassessment of the risks, costs and benefits of the use of 1080 for animal pest control. Public hearings on the application are being held in six cities around the country on 14-25 May.
The Evaluation and Review Report, which is compiled by ERMA New Zealand staff, is a comprehensive review and analysis of the information provided in public submissions and summarises both the submissions and the science around 1080.
The report is designed to help the Authority's Hearing Committee in its decision-making. However, the Committee is not bound by any findings or suggestions in the report.
Copies of the report will be mailed to those who have indicated that they will be making an oral submission during the 1080 hearings. Submitters are invited to comment on the report when making their oral presentations to the Committee. The Evaluation and Review Report can be found on ERMA New Zealand's website.
