Group Standards for Fuel Additives

The Environmental Risk Management Authority has issued group standards for fuel additives.

These group standards are issued in accordance with the requirements of Part 6A of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996. The group standards came into force on 1 July 2006.

The Fuel Additives Group Standards have been created for products that are used within the fuel industry. This includes (but is not exclusive of) fuel additive packages and specific additive types such as corrosion inhibitors, fuel detergents, anti-knock agents, antioxidants and combustion improvers designed for use within gasoline and diesel fuel systems. These group standards do not include fuels.

Amendments to Group Standards (July 2010)

The group standards were amended as at 1 July 2010 via the Labelling Requirements in Group Standards (Amendment) Notice 2010 – New Zealand Gazette 3 June 2010. This amendment involves the removal of the expiry date for the use of alternative labelling provisions for group standards, specifically the use of labels that meet the relevant current labelling requirements of Australia, USA, Canada, the European Union or any other country as approved by the Authority.
