The Environmental Risk Management Authority has issued group standards for fertilisers.
These group standards are issued in accordance with the requirements of Part 6A of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996. The group standards came into force on 1 July 2006.
The Fertilisers Group Standards have been created for any material which is used to sustain or increase the growth, productivity or quality of plants or animals through the application of essential nutrients to plants or soils; and any other product which is considered to meet identified soil or plant nutrient deficiencies and is applied with this as the principal objective.
