IF your substance is a vertebrate toxic agent and you are changing the formulation or use of the substance see Notification of vertebrate toxic agents.
If requested ERMA New Zealand can provide informal advice, based on information provided, on whether or not a substance is hazardous and/or whether it is covered by an existing approval. For substances that may be covered by a Group Standard, this advice will include the classification of the substance and will identify the Group Standard the substance belongs to. (As the scope of a Group Standard is defined by how a substance used, it is important to give full details on the use of the substance concerned).
This service will incur a charge (See fees and charges schedule).
For Informal advice from ERMA New Zealand on whether or not a substance is hazardous and/or covered by an existing approval, including a group standard, use one of these forms:

If requested the Authority can also make a formal determination as to whether or not a substance is hazardous.
