A notified application is one which is:
- likely to have some public interest, thus requiring public consultation;
- it has been publicly notified in the four main daily newspapers, on our website, in the Bulletin, and by notifying people who have indicated to us that they wish to be advised of particular types of applications.
The following hazardous substance applications MUST be publicly notified:
- Import or manufacture a hazardous substance for release (except rapid assessment);
- Import or release a hazardous substance or new organism for use in an emergency.
