To manufacture or import a new substance into New Zealand for the first time, you will need to make an application to ERMA New Zealand. Check Hazardous Substances already in New Zealand.
However, before you do so confirm that your substance is actually new. It may be the same as a substance that is already approved.
Types of Applications
Below is a list of the different types of hazardous substance applications that can be applied for. Each gives an explanation, price and links to documents and related information to enable applications to be made.

How can I keep track of applications approved or declined?
- All applications once formally received are listed on the Register;
- The Bulletin lists all applications that have been received and decided for that period.
