ERMA New Zealand is seeking input from interested parties on Outdoor Pyrotechnic Display Approved Handler Assessment Forms.
The forms enable test certifiers to fully assess a candidate’s overall skills and ability to safely stage outdoor pyrotechnic displays and their fitness for an approved handler test certificate.
The forms were developed in consultation with the working group that guided the development of the ERMA-approved Code of Practice for Outdoor Pyrotechnic Display (HSNOCOP 30-1). The working group is comprised of representatives from the pyrotechnic industry, pyrotechnic test certifiers, HSNO enforcement agencies, the New Zealand Fire Service, and ERMA New Zealand.
The forms are an outcome of the Code of Practice which defines three levels of approved handlers. The three-level system is intended to reflect the experience and competency of the approved handler and allocates the pyrotechnic products available to the approved handler on that basis.
ERMA New Zealand wants families and communities viewing outdoor pyrotechnic displays to do so safely by ensuring that new approved handlers entering the industry are highly qualified.
The forms are not for use by test certifiers when assessing candidates for a renewal of a test certificate.
